On March 2nd 1999, the BNSF HSSBMEM1-02A prepares to leave Silsbee to proceed east (West on the timetable) on the Longveiw subdivision toward Memphis, Tennesee. Note the cabless booster unit in the middle of the consist. Also in the consist is one of the new GE Dash 9 locomotives. Compared to their older counterparts, they are far and away the most comfortable locomotives to ride in. They are very well air conditioned, with tinted bulletproof windows, nice captians chairs, and even have a padded soft rubber flooring. These are among the only locomotives that crews are not required to wear ear protection while operating. Even their restrooms are clean and spacious.
