The Pacific Electric 00157 is a service car used to maintain the overhead trolley wire. The crews used the wooden platform on the roof to gain access to the wire. To prevent fatalaties from working on live wire, the car was made entirely of wood. Inside of this car, there was a place to hang a spool of trolley wire, and a hole in the roof near the platform for the wire to pass through, so the car could run along and replace the wire while under power. Also inside were cubby holes full of the parts neccesary to build the intricate suspension system for the wire. Despite it's apperance, it was never an express box motor, although it was built from similar plans at Torrance Shops.
