Pacific Electric 1441 is a box motor used to haul less-than-car-load freight.  Originally, they were also used to haul freight cars, but FRA rulings made hauling  more than one car with a wood framed locomotive illegal, and that service came to an end.  They were the UPS trucks of their day. These cars were ancient when they were retired, and some were even built by PE's predecessor lines.
